BROAN NU-TONE: HOOD SHOT
In this segment we used computer generated footage to extend a filmed stereoscopic
shot. The camera follows the actress into the room, pausing to look at the hood,
and then seems to get sucked up into the hood and through a series of ducts.
We began by tracking the filmed camera path with RealViz's MatchMover
(a).
After importing this information into NewTek's LightWave, we were able to match
the CG camera motion to the end of the real camera motion. Utilizing filmed
footage and digital photos taken on the set, we recreated objects in the scene
with RealViz's ImageModeler
(b).
Once the original footage of the hood ends, the CG footage seamlessly continues
the shot. The camera appears to fly up into the hood, through the grill, and down
a narrow tunnel of ducts and tubes. All of this was done twice, once for each eye,
so the entire segment is stereoscopic.
